STAND-UP comedy heavyweight King Kandoro’s “State of the Nation Comedy Tour” will be a four-city blitz which will roll into Johannesburg and Cape Town.
It will start in Bulawayo and end in Harare.
This year has been a whirlwind for the two-time National Arts Merit Awards winner.
He headlined Kenya’s Nairobi International Comedy Festival in August and marked a triumphant return to the Shoko Festival in September.
Kandoro also debuted his family game show ‘PaGrowth Point’ on YouTube and continues co-hosting the weekly podcast ‘Black & Forth’ with long-time partner Munashe Chirisa.
The ‘State of the Nation Comedy Tour’ gets underway on December 6 in Bulawayo.
It will move to Johannesburg on December 14, Cape Town on 15 December, and finally Harare on December 20 at the Celebration Centre.
Kandoro’s tour sold out last year.
Adding continental flair to the tour are stars Hillary Okello (Uganda) and Vafa Naraghi (South Africa).
Emerging comedians from Kandoro’s New School Comedy Club will also perform during the tour.
“There are so many young and exciting comics that just need a space to show and hone their talents, which is where ‘the New School Comedy Club’ comes in, providing a platform where these young guys can focus on their performances without having to worry about paying for venues and hiring equipment,” Kandoro said.
Kandoro has featured new talent, including Josh Mukahanana, Mike Chipere, Munya Guramatunhu, David Chimusoro, and Tinotenda Kurwaisimba.
