KINGSLEY COULD BE KING, SAYS CHITEMBWE

LLOYD CHITEMBWE says midfielder Kingsley Mureremba can easily become one of the finest footballers to grace the domestic Premiership if he keeps his feet on the ground.

The veteran CAPS United gaffer took just a season to transform the player to attain the profile he is currently carrying.

Chitembwe had realised the midfielder’s potential when he was a virtual unknown at Cranborne Bullets.

Naturally, Chitembwe would have wanted the agile player, who needed just a year under his hands to make it to the Soccer Stars of the Year calendar, to stay put at Makepekepe.

But the club had to take a business decision to release the former Zimbabwe youth international to newcomers Scottland.

Mureremba will also have to work very hard to earn a place in the season squad in the first place given that Scottland have been the busiest PSL club on the transfer market.

Scottland have undertaken a massive recruitment exercise where they are understood to have over 40 players under contract.

“Kingsley Mureremba has some good attributes both as a player and as a human being,’’ Chitembwe said.

“He is humble and very respectful. That makes him a great person and you would like to help him as much as you possibly can.

“As a footballer, he has some unbelievable qualities.

“But it’s all centred on what the environment is like.

“What do I mean by environment, I am saying with the right kind of players around him and playing in a way that defines him most.

“I think he stands to go further with his career. There is no doubt about it, he is a very good signing for them (Scottland).”

While Chitembwe regrets losing one of his jewels in the crown, he reckons that’s the nature of football and his team has managed to get an equally good replacement in Tanaka Shandirwa.

“Players are different and I am sure we have already identified a player (Shandirwa) who we think will contribute as much as Mureremba did last year.

“They are different players and they contribute in a different way.

“I think this is what it is about. We are blessed to lose a good player and go on to get an equally good replacement.

“It’s a blessing to be in that kind of a situation.”

CAPS United have also lost Godknows Murwira to Scottland and released a good number of players like Bruce Kangwa, Ralph Kawondera, Tonderai Mateyaunga, Ashley Reyners and Lot Chiwunga but they are very active in the market as they thrive to get even better replacements.
