Kissing feet pays off for Skimbo

If clichés were ever substantiated, then comedian and Zimdancehall artiste, Skimbo (real name Tatenda Matika), will testify that he has seen proof of the cliché “everything happens for a reason”.

The 22-year-old, who recently made news after a video went viral showing him being assaulted by fellow artiste Lady Squanda, will probably never live to regret the incident.

In the video, the comedian (pictured) was beaten up and forced to kiss Lady Squanda’s feet in front of a mob reportedly hired by Squanda. The attack was said to be retaliation to Skimbo’s skit, in which he mocked Lady Squanda for allegedly stealing undergarments from a Kwekwe Lodge.

The then little known comedian later claimed that Squanda’s feet were stinky, and it seems he might forever be thankful to the incident following revelations that the he has been drafted for his maiden UK Tour.

The Ziso ReGondo TV founder admitted that the incident with Squanda had given him a big break.

“I can say that the incident was a blessing in disguise. God opens doors in different ways because when we do what we do, we’ve no intentions of attacking anyone but it’s a way of dealing with stress and relaxing,” said Skimbo.

“I’m very happy to part of Madirirano Tour together with other acts that have represented Zimbabwe in the past. For me it’s a launch pad to my career as a social media commentator and comedian.

“It makes me proud to know that my efforts to enhance Zimdancehall’s popularity from a different angle other than music performances have been accepted by fans across the country and beyond.”

Skimbo will join chanters Killer T, Souljah Love, Shinsoman, Hwindi President, Alfred Nenguwo and UK based Warhead for three shows in the UK. – Showbiz
