Castro Ndlovu (23), of 14445 Nkulumane 12 and Prince Siziba (20) of 14521 in the same suburb were arrested after buying diesel valued at $80 using a counterfeit $100.
Ndlovu and Siziba were employed as driver and conductor by Sadomba Tours.
The two pleaded not guilty to fraud when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Marilyn Mutshina yesterday.
They were remanded in custody to today.
The State invited the petrol attendant, Mr Maxwell Mafune who testified that the two men had deliberately paid using counterfeit money.
Ndlovu and Siziba told the court they were not aware that the money was fake.
Miss Paida Zengeni for the State told the court that on 8 August, Ndlovu and Siziba drove to Belmont Service Station along 15th Avenue at about 9pm intending to buy fuel.
The duo requested a full tank, which would cost them $80.
The complainant refuelled the vehicle and was allegedly handed a fake $100 note by Ndlovu, the court was told.
It is alleged that Siziba produced the fake note and handed it to his driver who then gave it to Mr Mafune as payment.
The court was told that Ndlovu then drove off without waiting for change but Mr Mafune instantly noticed that the money was fake and chased after the vehicle.
Mr Mafune managed to catch up with the commuter omnibus as it got into Main Street and jumped inside where he held the steering wheel to force the driver to stop.
In the process, the vehicle allegedly veered off the road and was stopped by a ditch, the court heard.
An argument ensued between the kombi crew and Mr Mafune who then later drove the vehicle back to the fuel station where the crew paid for the fuel in real money.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Ndlovu and Siziba.
