Kondwani pulls out of Black Fist tourney

Dumezile Mtulike of Bulawayo for the vacant national lightweight title in Harare.

The title fight was supposed to be the main bout of the seven-fight Black Fist Boxing Promotions bill scheduled for February 11 at the City Sports Centre.
But the title fight has now been called off following the revival of Kondwani’s international non-title bout against Noel Banda of Zambia in Lusaka on February 17.
The Mbare-based boxer confirmed the latest developments yesterday.

“I’ve just received a message from Zambian boxing promoter Anthony Mwamba advising me that my international non-title fight against Nelson Banda has now been rescheduled for February 17 in Lusaka.
“This means that I now have to shelve my plans of fighting Dumezile Mtulike for the vacant national lightweight title as I now have an international commitment in Zambia.

“The other thing is that I can’t fight (Mtulike) a week before engaging myself in an international bout because it’s too risky as I can get some cuts during this fight.
“In fact, it’s also against international boxing rules for me to be involved in two fights inside 14 days,” he said.
