Kritic Igwee works on debut album

Dangamvura-based hip hop artiste Kuda Muchinguri, popularly known as Kritic Igwee, is working on his debut 13-track album entitled Stand Up, which will be released end of next month. The album will be Kritic’s first ever album after his first official single M.Town which was released two years ago. Kritic has been in the music industry for more than a decade and has worked with a lot of musicians such as MK47, Maskiri and Flexxo.

“I don’t want to rush into releasing anything before attracting a good following so now I think I have done that and there is a demand from the general public for more of my work. Since the release of my single M-Town, the response has been overwhelming,” said Kritic. The album carries popular tracks such as Stand Up, Gweja vs Buyer, Time will tell, Can’t wait to meet you, the Weekend and Mutare Moto.

“The title track stand up aka Dvat anthem (Dangamvura)talks of my struggles and things that I had to go through to get where I am today and also boasting about where I grew up(Dangamvura).I put up the date end of April as I am still working on some songs and collaborations with other artistes,” said Kritic.

Kritic’s music career started in 2001 and was part of a five member group called Players World which comprises of DX, KG40, Noah and Con B.
“As a group we did some demo tapes which we gave to Innocent Tshuma and some songs were played on Power FM,” said Kritic. Kritic then started his solo career in 2006 and released his first song African Drum and in 2011 he did ‘Can’t wait to meet you’ and did a video for the song.

In 2013 Kritic got nominated for best Promoter Zim Hip Hop Award and was also recommended for NAMA for Best Outstanding Song and the song was Time will tell which was recorded at Rehab Entertainment in the Capital.

In 2013 that is when he did his first official single M-Town followed by The Wicked in 2014 which he collaborated with I-finton who is now based in Germany.
He also did a collaboration with Xtra Maton and Maskiri on the track Masimba AJehova. Kritic together with Flexxo and MK47 did the track Unity which was used as the theme song for the 2014 Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards.
