ANDY CARROLL has revealed he is on the phone to fellow Dagenham & Redbridge co-owner KSI every day as they look to spearhead the sixth-tier minnows to an almighty rise to the Premier League.

The former England striker, 37, was named as the Daggers’ boss until the end of the season following the brutal sacking of Lee Bradbury earlier this month.

It came just weeks after YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI — real name Olajide Olatunji — sent shockwaves through non-league football by snapping up shares in the National League South side.

And Carroll now has his fellow investor on speed dial as they look to mount a last-gasp promotion push.

He exclusively told SunSport: “It’s been brilliant working with him. You can see exactly who he is as a person.

“He is very enthusiastic and wants to do well in everything he does. He gives everything 100 per cent, and having him as part of the Dagenham family is fantastic.

“We speak every day. If I can improve him one per cent and he can improve me one per cent, it benefits everyone.

“We talk personally, but we all want the right things when it comes to speaking about the club.

“And we blend what we say together and go from there. But there’s a lot of other people involved as well. It’s not just the two of us — there’s five or six of us together.”

Wrexham have surged from the National League to the cusp of the Championship play-off places since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney sealed a takeover in February 2021.

And KSI, 32, dropped a bombshell when he immediately made it clear that his goal is to guide Dagenham to the top-flight.

But Carroll, who initially joined the Daggers as a player and co-owner last summer, was not shocked by the sensational target.

The former Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham frontman added: “I don’t think it should surprise anyone when someone comes in to own a club and they want to do well.

“They want to get to the highest level, and the Premier League is obviously the highest level that we can get to.

“I think any person that has a football club or supports a football club would want that and have that as a dream.”

Dagenham are just four points off the National League South play-off places after a 3-1 win over Hampton & Richmond Borough yesterday.

The victory allowed Carroll to maintain his perfect record since his appointment — having also beaten Torquay last week.

And the triumph was streamed live on KSI’s YouTube channel while he watched on from the stands. —The Sun
