He was addressing journalists at a press conference at the Anglican Cathedral yesterday.
Archbishop Kunonga said the first constitutional draft failed the test of defining the people of Zimbabwe and should therefore be abandoned and revisited after elections.
“I refuse to accept that it is coming from those lawyers,” said Archbishop Kunonga.
“There is a spirit behind it. There is a kind of a demon behind it. As Zimbabweans we must agree that the Constitution must be Zimbabwean oriented.
“Where is it originating from? We only see a hand writing, but we don’t see the person behind that hand.”
In his analysis of the constitutional draft, Archbishop Kunonga said it imposed a political view, thereby attempting to recruit the nation to subscribe to that view.
“When a Constitution is written to suit a certain political interest what does that mean?” he said.
“It is designed as a regime change project. The whole nation is being recruited to subscribe to that view.”
Archbishop Kunonga said Parliament was given too much powers by the draft to reduce the powers of an Executive President.
He said it was not proper that Parliament will approve appointments made by the President.
“Powers of an Executive President are eroded. When a person wins an election as President he needs power, so he should get that power,” he said.
Archbishop Kunonga said people driving the Constitution process were too emotional and there was need to abandon the process until the country held harmonised polls.
The draft constitution, he said, did not denounce homosexuality. Archbishop Kunonga said people in Copac regardless of their political persuasion were gullible if they fail to uphold Pan-Africanism and the country’s values. On TB Joshua, Archbishop Kunonga said genuine prophecy should not be preoccupied with deaths of people.
“It’s diabolic. It’s Satanism to think in terms of the death of a person. Evil powers can also work just like spiritual powers.”
