HIGHLANDERS FC yesterday signed Rahman Kutsanzira from Caps United with the technical team also welcoming Zambian striker Mathews Macha on trial.
Club treasurer Jerry Sibanda who with secretary Andrew Tapela have been mandated to speak on transfers confirmed Kutsanzira’s arrival.

“We have sealed his deal. He is now our player, what is left is for us to settle financial issues with Caps United who have been co-operative on the issue,” said Sibanda.

Kutsanzira left the club at the end of the 2011 season in a move that was expected to land him a contract at Maritzburg United in South Africa. But things never brightened up for him and he eventually became disillusioned because of the club’s poor financial position and requested a return to Bulawayo.

The attacking midfielder, one of the best dribblers in the land, will add depth to an attack lacking a natural finisher in the mould of the late Adam Ndlovu, Zenzo Moyo, Josiah Nxumalo, Mark Watson and Charles Chilufya.

Sibanda confirmed that two strikers were at the club trying to impress the technical team.
“There is Mathews Macha from Zambia and Mkhululi Dube from New West City having trials at the club. It is up to them to impress the coaches. We are happy so far and we would like to thank our sponsors BancABC for providing us with funds for the club to compete with the best on the market,” said Sibanda.

Macha played with Kaindu at Zanaco before moving to Nchanga Rangers. He boasts African club football experience while the “Lobengula Bomber” Dube was impressive last Saturday in a match between trialists and last year’s team. He was the main man as the new boys beat the Mbada Cup winning side 4-1.

Should he show the same commitment and work ethic exhibited by other Zambians to ply their trade here who include Kaindu, Chilufya, Joseph Mwansa, the late Webster Chikabala, Derby Makinka, Laughter Chilembe, Dabwitso Nkhoma and Ian Bakala, Highlanders will be untouchable with a real Dream Team.

Highlanders are still keen on Kudakwashe Mahachi to arrive on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns and Danny “Deco” Phiri, Zimbabwe’s best anchorman at the moment.
