IT will be an event to remember as the usually sleepy town of Esigodini, Umzingwane District, Matabeleland South province plays host to the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Anti-Sanctions musical concert at Habane Stadium this evening (Friday). The concert will start at 6 pm.

The Sadc Anti-Sanctions Day being commemorated by Zimbabwe and other Sadc countries was adopted by Sadc at its 39th Summit at the recommendation of the late President of Tanzania, John Magufuli and on this day Sadc and the rest of the progressive world push for the unconditional removal of the illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe.

For over 20 years, Zimbabwe has been reeling under the yoke of sanctions with devastating impacts on the economy and livelihoods.

It is for this reason that Zimbabweans will gather for the musical concert in Esigodini under the theme: “Embracing Innovation, Towards Vision 2030: The Relentless Fight against Illegal Sanctions,” where a strong cast of musicians will share the stage the whole night.

The strong line-up of musicians which includes Jeys Marabini, Sandra Ndebele, Clement Magwaza, Madlela Sikhobokhobo, Mzoe 7, Jah Signal, Mbare Chimurenga choir and Mark Ngwazi will perform at the event.

Jeys Marabini who recently released his latest album titled Inkemenkeme said fans should come in their numbers as he would dish out songs from the latest album.

“It’s an honour to be invited. I would like to encourage people from all walks of life to make their way to Habane Stadium as I will perform songs from my latest album. We are more than ready, music fans should expect more positive energy,” he said.

Clement Magwaza who is working on a new album also promised a top-drawer performance.

“Fans should expect fireworks siyagida kuzekuse (we will dance till the break of dawn). I will sample some of the songs from my upcoming album titled Isiphalasengqondo. I will also perform some of my hit songs from my previous songs,” he said.

Madlela Sikhobokhobo said he was more than ready to perform at the concert.

“I’m 100 percent ready to perform at the concert. I will sample my latest single track titled Polepole which will be launched on 6 November,” he said.
