Kwekwe man gets 15 Months6 for fowl heist at school

By B-Metro Reporter

A KWEKWE man who thought he could wing it with a chicken-stealing spree has crash-landed in prison after being convicted of stealing 79 broiler chickens from a school in broad daylight — and under cover of night!

Joel Samuel Ncube (24) was slapped with a 15-month effective jail sentence by the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court after a bizarre poultry heist that unfolded in three daring raids at ZPC Munyati High School in March 2025.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement said, “Ncube:
On 3 March, smashed a wall to grab 10 broilers worth $70.

” On 15 March, tore into the roof and fled with 27 chickens worth $189.”

” On 24 March, returned again and looted 42 more worth $294.”

Total damage? A finger-licking $553. Recovery? Zero chickens.

The court showed some mercy: 3 months were suspended for 5 years, and another 3 months were set aside on condition he pays restitution. But the chicken bandit will still serve 15 months behind bars.

Locals are shocked, calling it the “Chicken Chronicles of Munyati.” School officials say the thefts have rattled the students and staff.

“No feathers, no trace — just a trail of broken walls and empty coops,” one teacher told B-Metro.
