NABBED! Kombi tip-off sinks thieving employee

A CHEEKY Nyanga man who tried to pull a fast one on his employer was swiftly dragged to justice—thanks to a kombi driver with a sharp memory and a strong sense of duty!
Shadreck Chitsike (25) has landed himself 6 months behind bars—though he’ll be swapping prison stripes for a community service vest after the Nyanga Magistrates’ Court suspended the sentence on condition that he completes 210 hours of unpaid work.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the drama unfolded on 24 March 2025 in the early hours in Mushata Village. The victim woke up to find both his employee and a string of belongings missing: US$22 cash, trousers, a hair clipper, baby blanket and two pairs of shoes—total haul worth US$82!

But the thief’s luck ran out fast.
The complainant, suspecting his staffer might flee via the Rusape route, contacted a local kombi driver. Bingo! The alert driver spotted Chitsike aboard, wasted no time, and handed him over to the cops.

The stolen items? Fully recovered.
