Mudindo was part of a group of musicians, who also featured jazz maestro, Bob Nyabinde.
Acting police spokesperson for Midlands province Assistant Inspector Burzil Nyawo confirmed the incident yesterday.
Asst Insp Nyawo, however, said the guitar has since been recovered after Mudindo came forward and surrendered it to Kwekwe Police Station on Friday.
“It is alleged that on 29 September 2012 the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) which was organising the show hired musical instruments from musician Joseph Chakanyuka for use at the Kwekwe Expo gig. At the Expo, musicians shared the same stage and Mudindo was among the musicians who participated at the show,” said Asst Insp Nyawo.
He said after the expo, the SCOAN members returned the musical instruments to Chakanyuka, who then discovered that one of his lead guitars was missing. Asst Insp Nyawo said a report of a missing guitar was made at Kwekwe Central Police Station.
“It was during investigations that police learnt that Mudindo and his two dancers, Danis and Donald Mashiri had also collected some of their band’s musical instruments at the same expo on the same day. On Friday, police inquired from Mudindo who confirmed having the guitar.”
