Kyle Basson retains Royal Harare title

throughout the country over the weekend.
Basson was the Royal champion and managed to defend his title after he carded 73, 77 and 67 for the three rounds.
His closest rival was Kayyan Mandhu who retained scores of 79, 69 and 75.
Basson felt this year’s competition was tight.
“It is good to retain my title and I am happy with my performance and I look forward to the other tournaments,” Basson said.
Bret Krog emerged the winner at Chapman.
Krog, who is improving with every outing, had rounds of 75, 76 and 76 to take the title away from Scott Vincent.
The golfer has been playing well in the past tournaments but may become the next big thing in local amateur golf.
Clive Nguru, who was the favourite at Chapman, ended up second, a position he shared with Emanuel Hungwe.
The duo finished the two rounds with a gross score of 153, two shy of the winner.
The club championships also saw Ben-Follet Smith winning the title at Wingate. The junior golfer turned on a vintage show as he beat hot favourite Nickson Masunga into second place. Smith had a good season last year in the junior ranks. The young golfer carded 74 and 71 to be crowned the 2011 Wingate champion.
It was at Country Club were Amos Nyamudzi won the title with ease. Nyamudzi scored 75 and 73 to get the better of Dyson Kamwethando who finished at 76 and 76 for a runner up.
