A HARARE man has told a court that his landlord has been threatening to remove the roof of the house he rents because of a disagreement related to unpaid rentals.

Herbert Maruza was granted a peace order by magistrate Meenal Naratom at the Harare Civil Court yesterday.

He dragged his landlord, James Chinyere, to court claiming that he was verbally and physically abusing him.

Herbert claimed his landlord was very abusive.

“I know l have an amount which is overdue and l am not refusing to pay.

“I told him that l was going to pay his money and we made a payment plan.

“He comes threatening to remove the asbestos sheets from the rooftop so that he can fix my family and also ban my children from playing on the veranda.

“He is in the habit of shouting whenever he comes home drunk.

“He is always threatening me with unspecified actions.”

James said:

“I have no problem with the granting of peace order but l just want my money,” he said.
