Lauryn Hill clears tax debt, but . . .

According to TMZ, a judge handed down the ruling yesterday in a Newark, New Jersey court.
The former Fugee rapper/singer will also spend three months on house arrest after completing her prison sentence and nine months of supervised release.

Yesterday Lauryn Hill’s attorney released a statement saying the hip-hop icon has paid off her nearly million dollar tax debt.

“Ms Hill has not only now fully paid prior to sentencing her taxes, which are part of her criminal restitution, but she has additionally fully paid her federal and state personal taxes for the entire period under examination through 2009,” Hill’s attorney, Nathan Hochman, told Reuters.

Last year Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty to three counts of tax fraud after failing to file tax return on US$1,8 million of income from 2005-2007.
Lauryn Hill was ordered by the judge to report to prison by July 8. — Urban Islandz.
