Parliament’s director of public relations, Retired Major Edward Mbewe, said the objective of the seminar was to analyse the economic environment within the budget, which was being crafted to gain legislators’ appreciation. “The seminar will also analyse the assumptions and priorities for the 2012 budget with respect to issues such as agriculture, transport, energy, social welfare and provision of quality education,” Rtd Maj Mbewe said.

Minister Biti has since announced that he would be working on a US$3,5 billion national budget. At the seminar, Minister Biti will deliver a paper on “Macro-Economic Framework for the 2012 National Budget: Challenges and Opportunities”.
