Lawrence Nyazema elected BAZ president

THE Bankers Association of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has elected CBZ Bank managing director, Mr Lawrence Nyazema, as its new president effective 16 May, taking over from Mr Mehluli Mpofu.

Mr Nyazema will be deputised by Dr Sibongile Moyo, the managing director of Nedbank Zimbabwe.

In a statement, BAZ chief executive officer, Mr Fanwell Mutogo said: “At the 30th Annual General Meeting of the Bankers Association of Zimbabwe held on Tuesday 16 May 2023, Mr Lawrence Nyazema, the managing director of CBZ Bank and Dr Sibongile P Moyo, the managing director of Nedbank Zimbabwe, were elected as president and vice president respectively of the association.

“Mr Mehluli Mpofu will remain active in the affairs of the association as the immediate past-president. The Bankers Association would like to thank Mr Mehluli Mpofu for the role he played as the president for the past one year.”

BAZ comprises banks registered and authorized to conduct banking services in Zimbabwe and provides information, research and operational support services primarily to the banking Industry.
