PROMINENT Bulawayo lawyer, Sampson Mlaudzi, who died in Botswana last week, will be laid to rest at his rural home in Whunga village, Beitbridge, tomorrow morning — exactly as he wished.

Mlaudzi, 79, died on August 5 in Gaborone. Speaking after a church service at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe, Queenspark West branch, family spokesperson and elder brother Elton Sinyosi said the burial will strictly follow his request.
“He wrote in his wish that he wants to be buried at exactly 8am tomorrow. We are leaving now for Beitbridge,” said Sinyosi.

The Law Society of Zimbabwe mourned his passing.
“Council of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, members and Secretariat extend their deepest condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time. May his dear soul rest in eternal peace,” read their condolence message.
Mlaudzi is survived by his widow and five children from his first marriage. He had no children with his second wife.
Born in 1946, Mlaudzi started his career as a teacher (1965–1973) before joining the justice sector as a court interpreter (1974–1980). He later pursued legal studies, earning an LLB (Hons) from the University of the North in South Africa.
In 1986, he registered as a legal practitioner under Lazarus & Sarif, and in 1988 co-founded Samp Mlaudzi and Partners, where he worked until his death.
