INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, has urged traditional leaders to ‘leave no one behind’ and involve people living with disabilities in all developmental programmes in their communities.
Minister Mutsvangwa said this is in line with President Mnangagwa’s ‘leaving no one and no place behind’ mantra.
“The President has been preaching the ‘leaving no one and no place behind’ message since coming into office and it should be clear to everyone that we are running with that mantra as a nation be it in urban or rural areas. As traditional leaders, you should know that disability is not inability and that everyone is equal. Involve everyone, be it in developmental projects or otherwise,” she said.
Minister Mutsvangwa said this while donating an imported specialised wheelchair for 10-year-old Dylan Marowa in Piki Village, Zimunya this morning.
Dylan is living with cerebral palsy after he contracted yellow jaundice two days after birth.
His mother, Ms Rachel Marowa expressed appreciation towards Minister Mutsvangwa’s donation, describing it as a miracle for her family.
“I have been at home, doing nothing and going nowhere because I could not leave my child lying just about anywhere in an uncomfortable position. When it was really necessary that I go out, for instance to seek medical attention or to attend a funeral, I had to leave the child with a well-wisher and it was was really hard for me as a mother.
“I would like to thank Minister Mutsvangwa for this kind gesture,” said Ms Marowa.
