VILLAGERS of Mabhema Village in Plumtree are still trying to come to terms with their neighboura��s bizarre thieving habits.
Melinkosi Ncube is alleged to be terrorising his neighbours as he wakes up in the middle of the night to steal cooked food from their huts while they are deep in slumber.
The disgruntled neighbours have had enough of his behaviour as the leftovers are meant to be eaten by their children as breakfast.
Sibonakaliso Bhebhe who is a neighbour to Ncube told B-Metro that she now carried leftovers to her sleeping hut as she feared that Ncube would raid her kitchen while she sleeps.
a�?Ncube must stop stealing food from us, he attacks during the night, jumping over my children in the kitchen just to feast on our leftovers saved for the next day.a�?
a�?When he is finished he throws away my pots. What is shocking is that we leave our phones charging but instead of taking valuable things he wakes up to raid our pots,a�? said Bhebhe.
Clayton Moyo, who works for Ncubea��s father, also confirmed that Ncube was a serial food thief.
a�?Ncube is employed at a store in our village and often brings us bread and Mazoe, when it is time to eat he leaves food on his plate showing that he is full.
a�?Amazingly, when we wake up we find the pots empty. We noticed that our neighbours were complaining of the same thing but when we ask him he denies ever waking up in the middle of the night.a�?
The mystery was solved when villagers followed a foot trail which led them to Ncubea��s hut.
The village head Mengo Bukwana confirmed the incident but said he was not aware of Ncubea��s whereabouts.
a�?I received the complaint but cannot preside over the matter as Ncube is nowhere to be found,a�? he said.
