Sophia Chese Arts Correspondent
Four urban groovers – ExQ, Goodchild, Ngoni Kambarami and Nox – are set to release a single that promises to be a scorcher. A member of the quartet Goodchild said they decided to work on a collaboration as a way of creating a big fan base for the urban grooves movement.

The upcoming single, “Akanaka”, describes the beauty of a woman. It has an Afro-pop feel and it was produced by Tman at Mount Zion studios.

“There are so many benefits that come out of such synergies chief among them is that we will be reintroducing ourselves to our fans. Our fans come from different background and influences so they will like the product,” he said.

Commenting on urban grooves being overshadowed by Zim dancehall, Goodchild said urban grooves was here to stay.

“Urban contemporary is the future, its unfortunate that most people had turned a blind eye on urban grooves and focusing only on Zim dancehall.

“It is unfortunate because Zimbabwe is now like a dancehall nation,” he said.

He said urban grooves has always been one of the best genres in the country as evidenced by Sani Makhalima’s song which came tops on Star FM’s Top 100.

“In terms of presentation and professionalism we are spot on and we are well positioned to fly Zimbabwean flag high. A good example is that one of Cindy who recently won the Best Female Southern Africa award,” he said.
