LEGENDARY artists are expected to start jetting into the country today ahead of the Gospel Legends Night show at the Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday.
Shuvai Wutawunashe is expected to fly home today.
Amai Wutawunashe will share the stage with legends like The Charambas, Pastor G, Pastor Haisa, Mathias Mhere, Pastor Prince Mafukidze, Baba Manyeruke, Carol Mujokoro, Minister Michael Mahendere, Fungisai Mashavave and Pastor Bonnie Deuschle.
Speaking ahead of the show, Minister Mahendere said:
“This Saturday I will be at the HICC for the Gospel Legends night and I am a member of the Mahendere Brothers.
“I started music in 1994 with my brothers so I have been part of the old generation and the current generation of gospel artists.
“I have seen what happened back then and I am seeing what is happening now and I am glad to be part of the event,” he said.
Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume said it was a privilege for him to attend the show and for the city to host such legendary musicians in one show.
“I will be there, we need to celebrate with those that pioneered gospel music in Zimbabwe,” he said.
United Kingdom-based songstress, Eleana Makombe, the hostess, said with only a few days left before the show explodes into life, everything was in place now.
The songstress said the legendary artists left a huge void which no-one can fill.
“It’s going to be a good night on December 7, where we are taking it back to the legends who made Zimbabwean gospel music what it is today.
“All preparations are in place now,” she said.
Eleana recently released a new song, starring Matthias Mhere, titled ‘Ndiye Mwari’.
South African legendary musician Sipho Makhabane is also part of the show.
One of his finest songs is ‘Yek’intokozo,’ which was a hit in both South Africa and Zimbabwe.
