LIFE, COLOUR RETURNS TO GHOSTLY GWANZURA

H-Metro Reporter

YOU have seen them before trying their best to be the musical or celebrity version of Khama Billiat or attempting to give a decent imitation of what Washington Arubi does in goal.

Of course, they have come short but no one can fault them for trying.

We know this is not their terrain but these musicians and celebrities love football – watching it and playing it too.

Now, they are back.

At Gwanzura on Sunday, Pacific Storm will stage a football tournament for the country’s top musicians and celebrities.

The company says the tournament presents an opportunity to address social issues which have been plaguing communities.

The tournament will be a showdown of eight teams – including four teams featuring musicians and celebrities and the other four teams made up of fans.

The winners will walk away with a trophy and prize money while outstanding individuals will also get prizes.

Speaking ahead of this free event, Pacific Storm Trade Marketing Manager, Kuda Chiutsi, said the tournament is meant to engage the youths and keep them busy, helping them to stay away from issues like drug and substance abuse.

“The tournament is meant to promote community cohesion and address many ills that are witnessed in different communities and mainly involving young adults.

“Coming up with such events will help them meet influential people who will inspire them.

“We also believe this will keep them away from engaging in social ills.

“This is one of the numerous community-centred projects we implement at PACIFIC Cigarette Company and people will not pay any cent at the gate.”

He added:

“Pacific Storm invited communities to set up a Pacific Storm Provincial Team and face off against other provinces.

“So, we have teams that have qualified and will now face celebrity teams at Gwanzura Stadium.”

Utakataka Express frontman Peter Moyo, Nutty O, Nesto, Shinsoman, Cello Culture, DJ Fantan, T Man, Guspy Warrior and Vokal are some of the musicians and celebrities who regularly play football.

Feeman will lead his Gallis FC which is composed of his band members, producers as well his fans.

Another team is King Shaddy’s Makorokoza FC while Winky D’s Vigilance FC, which is mainly composed of people from Kambuzuma, completes the celebrity teams.

Entertainment will be provided by the Chillspot Family’s duo of DJ Fantan and Levels.
