ZANU PF chairperson for Mashonaland East Province, Cde Daniel Garwe, has called on his province to actively mobilise monetary and material resources in preparation for the 2025 National People’s Conference.
The conference is scheduled for October at Mutare Polytechnic in Manicaland Province.
Addressing party members over the weekend at the Mashonaland East provincial executive committee (PEC) meeting in Marondera, Cde Garwe said it was important to surpass the resource mobilisation target set for each province. “I am excited to say our province is blessed with people who are always willing to contribute towards the revolutionary party,” said Cde Garwe.
He highlighted the recent donation made by Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, which he described as a humbling gesture.
To ensure the integrity of the fundraising process, Cde Garwe announced that a team led by the provincial vice chairperson would be dispatched to seek donations. He emphasised the necessity of using authorised, stamped letters from his office to prevent unsanctioned individuals from soliciting contributions under the party’s name.
In addition to resource mobilisation, Cde Garwe addressed the need to carry forward resolutions from previous conferences.
He underscored the significance of Vision 2030, a national initiative aimed at transforming Zimbabwe into a powerhouse in infrastructure development, education, and economic growth by the year 2030.
“We will have our resolutions as a province, and I am happy that last year we made resolutions that speak to the needs of the people,” he stated.
Cde Garwe highlighted ongoing improvements in various sectors, including road upgrades, enhanced energy supply and advancements in technology and education.
He added that Vision 2030 should be prioritised as the first resolution in future discussions, akin to a “balance brought forward” in accounting terms.
The focus aims to align the province’s efforts with the broader national objectives and ensure that all party members pull in the same direction.
Cde Garwe’s remarks also included a call for unity and hard work among party members.
He noted that the fulfilment of Vision 2030 is a collective responsibility that requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders.
“When we say it is unstoppable, we mean that where we are as a nation, in terms of that fulfilment, requires us to pull in the same direction,” he asserted, emphasising that unity and dedication are crucial for progress.
Cde Garwe urged the province to continue supporting the leadership in achieving the goals outlined in Vision 2030, while promoting peace and solidarity within the community.
