MASHONALAND East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Aplonia Munzverengwi, said Zimbabwe needs to ensure it doesn’t lose an entire generation to drugs.
Minister Munzverengwi said this at businesswoman and philanthropist Patience Mutangadura’s 36th birthday celebrations in Ruwa on Sunday.

The celebrations were also attended by Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Deputy Minister, Tino Machakaire.
Mutangadura handed over a consignment of groceries to a number of vulnerable children, who included the disabled and orphans.

“We don’t want to reach a stage where we have a generational gap without a working class, takuvhura ma borders tichitsvaga vanhu to work for our country.
“A whole generation can be lost to drugs and, in five years’ time, tinenge tisisina a generation.
“Our children should leave drugs and as parents we need to make sure they are protected.
“These are the same children who will be going to the Department of Social Welfare for help,” said Minister Munzverengwi.
The Minister added: “We want to thank this initiative for bringing children together.
“It helps in the fight against drug abuse.”
While minister Makachakire said:
“This event by mai Mutangadura is a programme to help children stop drugs.
“With this initiative every child will know how to survive these issues and there is nothing painful than growing up as an orphan or disadvantaged.
“I wish we all take every responsibility on all the children with respect. Siyai zvinodhaka, farirai vanotambura, rarama uri murudo.”
