marked the triumph of the Islamic movement in Iran, but also heralded the dawn of a new phase in the Palestinian struggle against the illegitimate state of Zionism.
Barely half a year after the establishment of the Islamic government, the Great Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (may his soul be sanctified) made the historic announcement of the last Friday of the majestic month of fasting, Ramadan, as “Quds Day” to signify the global Muslims’ gesture of solidarity and support to all the oppressed people of the world as epitomised by the Palestinian people under the Zionist regime.
Pursuant to that, we continue to draw inspiration from Imam Khomeini’s (RA) contribution towards the Palestinian cause and pledge through this article to continue reviving the Palestinian Movement till a just solution is established i.e is the restoration of human rights and liberation of Quds and the Palestinian people.
As one observes, today the Muslim world is, more than anything else, in need of unity, brotherhood and co-operation. On the basis of the concept that Islam is an undivided whole, Muslims are considered as one nation, whose issues are inextricably inseparable. That is the case with the Palestine problem.
It is Islam’s problem before it is deemed as the Palestinians’. Not that the problem wins top priority status due to the existence of Holy Mosques and monuments in Palestine. Rather it is the Muslim (the most invaluable entity in Islam) who incites and stimulates other Muslims to be more concerned with the problem.
All the injustices meted out to the Muslim people of Palestine and the ganging up of istikbar, by Zionists and its regional agents against these people, make it obligatory on every Muslim to remind himself always of the prophetic tradition which states that “whoever wakes up without paying heed to Muslims’ affairs, he is non-Muslim”.
There is no need, therefore, to overemphasise to all Muslims everywhere about the legitimacy of the Palestinian campaign for restoring their rights.
As they say, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”, today, the issue of Palestine is one of the most important issues bedevilling the world.
In fact, no other international issue in the world is more important than the issue of Palestine because the domination of the occupiers of Palestine is the source of many of the weaknesses and problems in the world today. The issue of Palestine is not something that can be treated lightly as it is intertwined with the destiny of non-Palestinians throughout the world.
The issue of Gaza is not about a piece of land. The issue of Palestine is not just a geographical issue: it is a human issue.
It concerns the entire humanity. Today the issue of Palestine is the standard that distinguishes between commitment and opposition to human values and principles. This shows how important the issue is.
All nations are thus responsible towards Palestine. All governments are responsible towards Palestine, both Islamic governments and non-Islamic governments. Any government that claims to support humanity is responsible in this regard, but the collective responsibility of Muslims is heavier.
Today one cannot fail to clearly see that an all-out war has been waged against the entire humanity and not just a certain part of it.
This war has economic, political, cultural, and military and security dimensions and it is making use of modern and sophisticated propaganda tools. What we currently see in Palestine, Syria, DRC or Afghanistan is not just a war against one nation and although they are fighting Palestinians, they are in fact fighting a war against the existence of humanity.
Today we are faced with a great hostile camp which consists of the powers of the world. A camp has been formed in international centres of power — the financial and economic superpowers — which are mainly controlled by the Zionists and great capitalists.
Today the so-called superpowers — namely the arrogant powers, represented by America — have risen up against humanity and human values.
The lives of millions of people have no value for these people. These people deploy their organisations and spend money out of hypocrisy to save a cat that is stuck in the well of a certain house. Or sometimes they put on such a humanitarian face that even those who know them will start to wonder whether they are saying those things out of genuine sympathy or out of hypocrisy!
Zionist-Israeli is undoubtedly a crime against humanity; this is what it essentially was when the brat was misbegotten 64 years ago, and this is what it has always been ever since, a diabolical entity living and thriving on aggression, bellicosity and war. Indeed, the fact that almost every American politician, let alone the President of the Republic, feels obliged to grovel at Israel’s feet, or else commit political suicide, illustrates the moral degeneration corroding America’s collective conscience.
The Zionist invasion of Palestine was the product of imperialist Europe’s invasion of three continents, and it was justified to the world with the theological argument that Palestine was the “Promised Land” of the Jews.
Thus, Zionism is a manifestation of colonial imperialism and is based on both race and religion; to be more exact, it is based on a theological claim which states that the land of Palestine is the land which God has promised to the “Chosen People”. The concept of a “Chosen People” emphasises the superiority of the Jews, who should not socialise with other peoples or share the land with any others. Naturally, this has resulted in a racial closure for the Jews, discrimination against all other races, especially the Arabs, who were the original inhabitants of Palestine, as well as an innate sense of superiority amongst the Jewish race.
Thus, the Zionist Israeli regime continues to hide its policy of land occupation behind elaborate smoke screens, which portrays that the Jews have been given a mission by “God”, and they are simply obeying “God’s” teachings, for which they should not be blamed.
Indeed, the “God” of the Zionists is a violent being, full of hatred and arrogance.
The irrationality of this ideology leads to murder and manic destruction, and it denies all humane ideas and traditions. This explains why for almost 64 years now, the usurper Zionist state has been pressuring the people of Palestine.
In all these years the people of Palestine have been trampled upon under Zionist boots. Besides plotting assassinations and kidnappings, occupying Palestinian and suppressing the Palestinians, carrying out massacres and committing other horrendous crimes, today the Zionists launch daily air raids on the villages of innocent civilians in Palestine.
This is clear terrorism that even Israelis cannot deny and they admit that they are carrying out acts of terror. On the other hand, the crimes which were committed by the Zionist criminals during the historic events of Gaza (2000-2002) — the massacre of civilians, the destruction of defenceless homes, the impaling of young infants, the bombing of schools and mosques, the use of phosphorous bombs and other outlawed weapons, the blockade on supplies of food, medicine, fuel and other essentials of life that lasted for almost two years and numerous other crimes — prove that the savage and criminal nature of the leaders of the fake Zionist state have not changed in the least since the early decades of the disaster in Palestine.
Exactly the same policies and the same brutal and ruthless nature — which gave rise to such tragedies as those of Deir Yasin, Sabra and Shatila — still rule the dark hearts and minds of today’s taught.
Of course, technological advances have made such crimes grow far more varied and far more tragic.
The criminal and brutal attack by the Zionist regime on the Gaza aid flotilla is another link in the chain of the great crimes committed by this Western imperialistic regime during the seventh decade of its disgraceful existence.
This is another example of the blatant and merciless actions which the Muslims of the region, particularly the oppressed people of Palestine, have been faced with for several decades.
This time, it was not an Islamic or Arab convoy. Rather, it was a convoy which represented global public opinion and human consciences from across the world. This criminal attack must have convinced everybody that Zionism is a modern, yet more violent, form of fascism which is supported by governments that claim to support freedom and human rights — especially, the American government.
In spite of all the grand claims constantly made by the American government and the media affiliated with it regarding the need for global leadership, human rights and other such things, the Israelis still occupy territories in front of the eyes of the people of the world and they imprison torture, put on trial and exile people.
They still drop bombs on cities. And the world is not showing any reaction. What is more surprising is that the world of arrogance criticises those oppressed people and say, “Why do you defend yourselves?” Instead of telling the occupier, “Why did you occupy their homes?” the world of arrogance is telling those who are defending their homes, “Why do you defend yourselves?”
Notice what an evil new order has been established over the world. Is this what they call “the new world order”?
It’s time the world responds to the insolence of the arrogant powers and their agents with co-ordinated actions in a determined way.
Political games and fleeting events cannot change the truths of this world.
Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. The Zionist regime is a usurping and fake state.
The only avenue to deliverance is resistance and fortitude, unanimity of the Palestinians and their faith in monotheism, which is an inexhaustible source of struggle.
The pillars of this resistance are, on the one hand, the militant Palestinian groups and each and every one of the faithful and resistant Palestinians who live inside or outside Palestine.
On the other hand, pillars of resistance are Muslim governments and nations throughout of the world — particularly religious scholars, intellectuals, political figures and academia.
If these two pillars remain firmly in place, there is no doubt that in every part of the world, awakened consciences, and hearts and minds which have not been transformed by the spells of the new empire of the arrogant powers and Zionism, will rush to the aid of the oppressed and those who have been denied their rights.
Nevertheless, the onus lies with Muslims in all parts of the world to sincerely demonstrate their support and solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and to show their resentment of the continued occupation of their sacred mosque — Masjid Al Aqsa — on such days as the International Quds Day.
