War veteran Cde Nation Ngaba who was conferred liberation hero status has been buried at his Buckley Chase Farm in Chakari, Sanyati District.
Cde Ngaba, known by his Chimurenga name Christopher Shumba, died on September 11 at his farm after a long spell of health complications.
He was 70.
Cde Ngaba joined the liberation war in 1970 and underwent training as a Zipra cadre at Napulo Base in Zambia.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo, who presided over the burial, challenged youths to step up the fight on the economic front.
“Cde Ngaba executed successfully the war of liberation with other youths of his generation,” she said.
“That war is over, and now we have a war, which the born frees can take part in and that is the economic war.”
Minister Chombo said the Government had initiated various programmes to empower people in all sectors of the economy.
As such, she said, everyone should take empowerment opportunities in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, retail and livestock production among others.
At the village level, she said, communities should participate in Village Business Units aimed at uplifting rural communities.
Described as a hard worker, Cde Ngaba was unflinching in defence of the revolutionary ideals.
His brother, Cde Philimon Velemu said his brother was loyal to Zimbabwe and ZANU PF until the end.
“It is a sad loss to the family, nation and the Sanyati community as my late brother was a hard worker,” he said.
Cde Ngaba is survived by 10 children and a wife.
