Lieutenant General Emmanuel Matatu takes command of ZNA

NEWLY-appointed Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Matatu, this morning officially took over command and control of the organisation from Lieutenant General (Retired) Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe.

Lt Gen Sanyatwe (Rtd) has since been appointed Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture.

A handover and takeover parade was held at Charles Gumbo Barracks in Harare.

The Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Philip Valerio Sibanda, who was the chief witness to the command exchange, called on Lt Gen Matatu to pay attention to principled leadership which is responsive to the dictates of the current operating environment..
