NYELE Clinic in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South Province, has received a boost after the area legislator, Cde Dingumuzi Phuti, donated building materials for a cottage under construction.

The clinic’s main structure is complete and awaiting roofing, as is the first cottage.

Cde Phuti has pledged to build the second cottage, which is at slab level, and last Saturday he handed over window frames and door frames to the community—enough to complete the structure.

The project is among several developmental initiatives being implemented from scratch by Cde Phuti, including the construction of Bhilingoma Primary School, Gwamagwama Primary School, Ndolwane Registry, and Mafa Primary School, among others.

The event, held at the Nyele Clinic site, coincided with Cde Phuti’s belated birthday celebrations and saw the elderly and vulnerable receiving groceries to take home.

Speaking at the occasion, Cde Phuti thanked the community for nurturing a village boy who rose to influential positions in government and politics.

“The donations at Nyele were deliberately timed to coincide with the purpose of the day—celebrating my birthday with the community that birthed me, raised me, and socialised me. I therefore had the opportunity to give back in terms of what I know are the needs of the community.

“We donated building materials for the clinic under construction because it is a facility that we know will go a long way in changing lives and improving access to health services. We also donated foodstuffs to our parents, the elderly, and the vulnerable in the communities of Tjehanga, Tokwana, Nyele, and Makumbi—primarily to extend a hand of gratitude to those who saw me grow up, as well as to alleviate hunger in struggling families,” he said.

Cde Phuti said several other developmental projects are in the pipeline.

“This is not the first, and this is not the last. However, we have also pledged to construct a vocational training centre at Tokwana, complete Tjehanga Clinic, and finish Matjinge Clinic. Donations for these will be handed over in the coming days, starting with Matjinge, which will receive its share by this weekend,” said Cde Phuti.
