Nigerian popular group P-Square include BaShupi, Amara Brown, Chiwoniso Maraire, Alexio Kawara, Mic Inity, Roki, Nox and Winky D.
Speaking at a Press conference in Harare on Tuesday, Lion Lager brand manager Patricia Murambinda said this event would be bigger and better as they seek to rebrand Lion Lager.
“This year’s event is set to reposition Lion Lager through music. We are happy that P-Square will be performing at the event,” she said.
Murambinda said for this year’s festival Delta Beverages, through their Lion Lager brand, had partnered with the Harare International Festival of the Arts as part of a long relationship with the organisation to organise a world-class event.
Topping the bill will be the Nigerian duo of Peter and Paul Okoye who are popularly known as P-Square.
The “Beautiful Onyinye” hitmakers will be performing in Zimbabwe for the first time.
Newly-wed reggae-dancehall sensation Mic Inity, real name Mike Madamombe, promised to deliver his best and said the festival was an opportunity for Zimbabwean
music to shine.
“I feel very honoured and humbled to be part of the list of musicians who are set to thrill fans at the festival. I promise to deliver my best, come and witness the action-packed event,” he said.
Roki, who left the country on Tuesday for a tour of the United Kingdom, was represented by his manager Bybit Areketa, who spoke highly of the festival and the
“Chidzoka” singer was pleased to be one of the performers at the festival.
Mbira queen Chiwoniso also confirmed her presence at the festival and promised a great time for music lovers. DJ Rax, who will be playing in between performances, gave thumbs up to the organisers saying music lovers will not be disappointed.
Those who enjoy some mature Afro-jazz music will be thrilled to see Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana on stage, belting out some of her classics like “BP” and “Ndafuna funa”.
The Lion Lager Summer Festival is an annual event hosted by Delta Beverages.
The first edition of the festival was held at the old Hararians in 2009 with local musicians thrilling revellers.
Last year the event was held twice, the first in Harare and the second in Bulawayo featuring reggae icons Cocoa Tea and Fantan Mojah among other artistes.
