This year’s edition of the Lion Lager Summer Festival is on October 12 at Harare’s Glamis Arena, where two international artistes will grace the annual event. Patricia Murambinda, the sales and marketing manager at Delta Beverages, however, could not be drawn to disclose names of the artistes, but said fans are in for a surprise.

“Because of contractual reasons I cannot reveal the name of the artiste, but I can say there is not going to be one, but two international acts. The artistes are big names on the international music scene,” she said.

Murambiwa hinted that the celebrity stars were chosen on the basis of suggestions from fans on their Star FM radio programme since January.

“Our choice was that of the people and requests were coming in for the return of P-Square, while some wanted Tarrus Riley, D’banj, 2Face and Snoop Lion,” she said.

Winky D and Guspy Warrior will be among the supporting artistes. The selection was a result of their popularity with Lion Lager consumers at Lion Campus Nights around the country’s universities, according to the sales and marketing manager.

Murambiwa added that this year, the company would address several grey areas that were identified in previous shows. Chief among these was advance tickets.

“This year we are encouraging people to purchase show tickets in advance to avoid incidents on the day of the show. We have arranged to partner with key bars as selling points for tickets to allow easy access for revealers,” she concluded.

The festival will be running under the theme, “Beer Summer Festival Explosion”. In previous years, P-Square, Beanie Man and Fantan Mojah have brought down the house at the beer festival.
