OVER 35 pre-schools from across the country took part in the second edition of the MarimbaForLittleOnes Pre-School Festival.
The event was a grand showcase of young talent in contemporary dance and poetry.
This year’s competition saw Angel Island from Chitungwiza defending its title in the baby class category.
Coronation Academy from Chisipite retained their title in the infant schools (Grade 1 and 2) category.
The participants came from different parts of Zimbabwe such as Marondera, Glendale, Mhondoro, Goromonzi, Chinhoyi, to name but a few.
The event was directed by Decide Mabhiza.
“The festival held competitions in contemporary dance and poetry, aligning with the education curriculum to nurture young talents.
“With the support of school directors and sponsors like WANAMARI, the festival grew from eight schools last year to 35 schools this year,” says Mabhiza.
A parent, who identified herself only as Mutangi, praised the initiative:
“These are good steps towards catching them young, putting the VPA syllabus into action.
“It empowers them with performance skills and identifies children’s talents at a tender age, then trains them for future careers.’’
The festival’s growth reflects the dedication of the organisers and the enthusiastic participation of the schools across the country.
By fostering a love for the arts early on, the Marimba Forlittleones Pre-School Festival is set to become a big national event in this country.
