“ZANU PF rejects the daylight robbery of our people’s hard earned money by the opposition, as they are heartless and incompetent,” said President Mnangagwa

 

14.01 – The President says the whole country should remain united and peaceful, to shame the country’s detractors

“Perpetrators of violence will be brought to book without fear or favour,” he said.

“We need peace and harmony during and after the elections, and at all times as we are a peace-loving people. I commend you for the prevailing peace we are experiencing in the country.”

 

14.06 – President Mnangagwa says the country is now food secure.

“We are in our third year of experiencing food security, and we are confident that even in the event of climate change-induced drought, we will not experience food shortages as we have built dams for irrigation.”

 

14.08 – President Mnangagwa said, to address food shortages in urban areas, Government will distribute free fertiliser and seed to urban farmers

 

14.13 – President Mnangagwa chronicles some of the key infrastructure projects that have been undertaken by the Second Republic, including the Mbudzi Interchange, Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge road, the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport expansion project, and many others

 

14.14 – The President said the Second Republic has also made headway in addressing energy challenges by rehabilitating Hwange Thermal Power Station Units 7 and 8, which have added over 600MW to the national grid

He also said Government has managed to address fuel challenges, which are now a thing of the past

 

14.17 – The President says it is regrettable that Harare-based soccer teams such as Dynamos FC are now being forced to play their home matches out of the city, because of the poor state of stadia.

“We will renovate our stadiums, so that our teams such as DeMbare can play their matches in the capital,” he said.

 

14.22 – He says the Second Republic is determined to improve the health sector as shown by the construction and rehabilitation of numerous health institutions across the country

He says Government commissioned various equipment, including ambulances, drug delivery trucks and MRI machines at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals this morning

 

14.28 – President Mnangagwa announces that he has brought 90 laptops, as well as printers, projectors and projector screens, among other ICT gadgets, which will be distributed to schools in Harare Metropolitan province

 

14.30 – President Mnangagwa concludes his address
