VOTERS in urban areas should vote for ZANU PF candidates during the August 23 harmonised elections in order to kick out opposition councillors that are short-changing ratepayers through poor service delivery, President Mnangagwa has said.
Speaking while addressing an estimated 115 000 supporters at the ZANU PF star rally held at Robert Mugabe Square in Harare on Wednesday afternoon, the President said the current shambolic service delivery was tantamount to “daylight robbery of our people’s hard-earned money by the opposition, as they are heartless and incompetent”.
“We are a sovereign State and partners are welcome to support us, but according to our own priorities,” he said.
Perpetrators of political violence, he added, will be brought to book “without fear or favour” to ensure a peaceful environment ahead of this year’s elections.
“We need peace and harmony during and after the elections, and at all times, as we are a peace-loving people.
“I commend you for the prevailing peace we are experiencing in the country.”
He also said the country is now food-secure.
