LIVE UPDATE: SA state visit officially begins

Live updates from Mabasa Sasa in  TSHWANE, South Africa

President Mugabe’s state visit to South Africa has officially started two hours ago with the Zimbabwean leader inspecting a guard of honour mounted for him by his host, President Jacob Zuma.

The guard of honour preceded a 21-canon salute by the South African Defence Forces at the Union Buildings in Tshwane, which is the country’s seat of government.

Soon, ministers from the two countries will address the media as Presidents Mugabe and Zuma start their closed door deliberations. Ministers covering portfolios ranging from Finance to SMEs will also have plenary as they try map a mutually beneficial way forward for citizens
