Local boutiques battle for top honours

The themes for the show are Winter Fashion, Evening wear, Bridal Wear, Casual, Party Dresses, Office and Ethnic Wear.

Each boutique is required to enter five models each and showcase two of the themed collections.

The show will be held at Connect Café, 3rd Floor Haddon & Sly Building next Friday night.

Project coordinator of Luyanda’s Fashions, the organisers of the event, Precious Mahlangu, said the competition was a way for businesses to network.

She said the competition would focus on women’s clothing and later on in the year there would be a men’s version.

“We want to promote the fashion industry in Bulawayo and to help small businesses grow.

“The general feeling out there is excitement and we hope we will have a successful show,” said Mahlangu.

She said business people in Bulawayo need to support each other as this was the missing link that would help businesses grow.

“We should support each other in order to empower ourselves and create our own market. There are no networking opportunities in the city,” said Mahlangu.
