The Tshisa 18 Festival Tournament has received a significant boost after local businesspeople pledged their support for the initiative.
The tournament, which will feature four Under-15 and Under-17 teams from Mzilikazi and Makokoba townships is set to take place at Mzilikazi Primary School in Bulawayo on 28 and 29 December. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting local youth development programs and initiatives.
The tournament, which aims to promote youth development and social cohesion through football, has been warmly received by the local community, with several prominent business leaders coming forward to offer their backing.
“We are thrilled to support the Tshisa Foundation Tournament,” said Foster Maseko, one of the tournament’s main sponsors.
“As a local business, we believe it is essential to invest in the next generation and promote positive values such as teamwork, discipline, and fair play.”
Several other local business people who include Nhlanhla Moyo, have provided their support for the tournament.
“As a company we are happy to partner with the Tshisa 18 Festival Tournament organised by the Johannes Ngodzo Foundation. This is an important event that should receive support from the corporate world. It is only through tournaments like this that we will identify another Peter Ndlovu or Benjamin Mwaruwari or Johannes Ngodzo,” said Moyo.
“We are grateful for the support of the local business community,” said former Highlanders abd Warriors midfielder, Johannes Ngodzo, founder of the Johannes Ngodzo Foundation which organised the tournment.
“Their backing is a testament to the power of football to bring people together and drive positive change in our communities.”
With the tournament just around the corner, excitement is building among local football fans, who are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to watch some of the region’s top young talent in action.
“We are expecting a fantastic day of football,” said Ngodzo.
“We invite everyone to come and join us at Mzilikazi Primary School to support these talented young players and help make a difference in our community.”
