The Christian community has pledged to compliment government efforts through different initiatives across the country in efforts to fight drug and substance abuse.

Tabernacle of Worship Family Ministries, has taken the lead by organising a campaign this Sunday at Solan in Epworth.

The campaign, which is open to the public, will be held at the church’s centre in the dormitory town.

Tabernacle of Worship Family Ministries leader and founder, Bishop Roger Jeffrey urged Epworth residents to come in their numbers and support the cause.

“So what we are doing here is complementing government’s efforts to fight this scourge which has become a menace.

“So we are going to have this campaign at our centre here in Epworth, paSolani to spread the message and educate communities about this issue.

“The church is an important arm in society and we should be seen playing our role to support these communities,” said Bishop Jef.

The community of Epworth is infamous with criminal activities and the forthcoming church service, which is more of community engagement is also meant to address that.

Prophetess Monica Jeffrey, a key figure in community engagement initiatives said Sunday’s event will tackle a number of issues.

“This is more of a community engagement; we are coming to a community that is seen as a hub of criminal activities out there. These are some of the areas this campaign will address.

“There are a lot of child-headed families and early pregnancies and these girls want our help as a church.

“So we saying let’s all gather at Solani in Epworth this coming Sunday, July 27 so that we tackle these critical issues affecting our societies.”
