Investment banking firm Platinum Groupe was recently awarded the Best Investment Banking Team at the 2021 global Capital Finance International (CFI) corporate finance awards.
The London-headquartered CFI is a print and online journal that identifies business influencers around the world.
It seeks out individuals and organisations annually that contribute significantly to the convergence of economies around the world, including rewarding excellence and promoting the advancement of the global economy.
Platinum Groupe is a holding company that offers specialised financial services through four strategic business units: Platinum Investment Managers (PIM), Platinum Securities, Platinum Financial Solutions, and Platinum Microfinance.
It has been serving institutional, corporate and individual clients in Zimbabwe for over two decades.
In particular, PIM has managed to grow funds under management from US$4,5 million in 2010 to US$100 million last year, while market share rose from 0,25 percent to 6 percent in the same period.
In a statement after winning the award, the company’s chairperson, Mr Exodus Makumbe, said for the past 22 years, PIM has been among Zimbabwe’s top companies in terms of fund management.
“This has been achieved on the back of a solid foundation of investment expertise, professionalism and trust. My team will build on this momentum to do even better and break new barriers,” he said.
“Platinum Groupe, as an integrated investment banking outfit, will have its fair share of contribution when the recovery story of Zimbabwe is written.”
Platinum Groupe was given the accolade for being among the top financial outfits in Zimbabwe in structuring and investment transactions.
The indigenous firm promotes investment opportunities in mining industry to develop the country’s large mineral resources.
It plays a crucial role as a key financier of the energy sector and infrastructure projects, while its agricultural investments are targeted to promote food security and support contract farmers.
Among the company’s product offering are salary-based loans, civil servant loans, SME lending, invoice discounting, micro-housing loans and agriculture loans.
