JUST a week into the new Castle Lager Premiership season it appears there is a winner already − the VIEGO kits which have been unveiled by CAPS United and Herentals.
Simba Bhora have also been using VIEGO kits for their opening two games − the Castle Challenge Cup and the league match against FC Platinum.
These clubs are being praised for investing in a company where their investment is supporting jobs on the local scene.
VIEGO is a Zimbabwean sportswear firm.
Of course, none of their jerseys will fetch the record-breaking US$250 000 which was used to buy a Scottland replica shirt last week, which made it the most expensive football club jersey in the history of football in the world.
That jersey was part of the Adidas sportswear equipment which Scottland unveiled for their first dance in the domestic Premiership.
A CAPS United jersey, which was auctioned on the same day, peaked at US$1,500.
But, that doesn’t take away the beauty of the range of kits which the Green Machine have unveiled this season.
CAPS United decided to partner with local sportswear firm VIEGO for their new kit.
And, the company, which has been making significant inroads in the tough market still dominated by traditional brands like Adidas, responded with a beautiful range of kits for Makepekepe.
VIEGO explained the new CAPS United kit.
“The home kit proudly displays the club’s traditional green-and-white stripes, now with a striking spike detail that represents the bold spirit of the Green Machine in 2025.
“The away kit draws inspiration from the VIEGO-Wave movement, featuring elements seen across various teams’ kits.
“The CAPS wave is cleverly incorporated, making the kit appear as a simple white design from a distance, ensuring it is easily distinguishable from the home kit.
“Lastly, the alternative yellow kit showcases the designer’s quest for uniqueness, opting for a lateral stripes design rather than a vertical one.
“As VIEGO’s flagship club within our brand ecosystem, it’s time for Makepekepe to shine bright.”
The company also addressed the Herentals kit.
“The Students are making a triumphant return in 2025. Check out their Alternative kit, which draws inspiration from the majestic wings of an eagle, perfectly embodying the motto of Herentals Football Club: ‘Like an eagle, we shall rise, rise and rise!’”
The Students emerged as the best performing club in Harare last season when they finished fifth in the championship race.
They overshadowed giants CAPS United and Dynamos.
