THE Manicaland Association of Ladies in Arts (MALA) on Saturday hosted a successful exhibition and fundraising day where a variety of talents were showcased by local women in the arts.
The event, which was held at Meikles Park, featured a diverse range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and crafts, with all proceeds going towards supporting community projects in the Manicaland area.
According to one of the organisers and owner of Kushite Crafts, Kushinga Musakwa , the association is dedicated to empowering women and promoting arts education in the region.
“We are thrilled with the success of today’s event and it’s wonderful to see so many talented ladies showcasing their work and supporting a great cause.
“We needed this recognition as women in Arts in Manicaland,” she said.
Rufaro Manyuka from Zafrique, a participant at the exhibition, was delighted by the interest shown in their products.
“Many people are surprised to learn that we exist and are eager to learn more about our artworks and designs thus we are willing to teach people about our cultures,” she said.
Film actress, model, and writer Nyasha Rumbidzai Bvunzawabaya said:
“This association is a platform for us to showcase what we have and what we can offer with the support of each other as women,” she said.
“We can do it together and it has boosted our confidence and morale.”
