US-BASED comedian, Long John, is basking in the glory of being honoured with a Golden Buzzer at America’s Got Talent.
The 30-year-old, who was born Learnmore Jonasi Mwanyenyeka, is now living his dream after rubbing shoulders with his role model and getting top honours.
A Golden Buzzer is a special feature on America’s Got Talent that allows judges to send an act directly to the live shows, bypassing lower levels of the competition.
He was handed the honour by his greatest inspiration, Terry Crews.
With many Zimbabweans now appreciating stand-up comedy, it should be noted that this is not the first international award he has won.
In 2021, he won the People’s Choice Award award at the Steve Harvey Stand-up Spotlight Awards ceremony.
Afterwards, he came second at the World Series of Comedy competitions held in Atlanta.
Locally, he won the Outstanding Comedian at the National Arts Merit Awards in 2019 and 2020.
Last year, he won the Outstanding Artist in Diaspora.
Fellow creatives took to social media to congratulate Long John.
Bustop actress, Sharon Maggie Chideu, wrote:
“Mudzimu une shiri… Congratulations Learnmore Jonasi you are relentless, pachiShona toti unenharo. Mabasa ako are bearing fruits.”
