Long Lay-Off for teenage hadebe

Former on-loan Highlanders player and now Chicken Inn drafted central defender Teenage Hadebe will not be part of the team to kick off the 2016 PSL season owing to injury.

Hadebe, originally a Bantu Rovers player loaned to Highlanders last season where he picked an injury, was re-loaned by his parent club to Chicken Inn who took him in knowing his injury status.

a?He has a very bad knee injury. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is needed for team doctors to know what should be done,a? said a well placed Chicken Inn source.

The injury might see the player going under the knife and attending physiotherapy. This could mean up to 10 weeks on the sidelines.

Having taken a gamble on him, Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube said they stand by the player.

a?I can only say as a club we are willing to assist Hadebe. We need him like yesterday,a? said Ncube.

Hadebe had a stellar season which prompted his numerous national team call-ups and a week-long trial stint at South Africaas Absa Premiership side Ajax Cape Town.

In January Hadebe went for a scan and medical doctors recommended that the former Highlanders defence kingpin undergo an operation.

However, the player seemed not keen on going under the knife at the time. He has had a rethink.

a?I will take doctorsa advice. Iam currently doing light training but I hope to be fit soon. Chicken Inn is willing to help but itas unfortunate that I will miss a couple of games this season,a? said Hadebe.
