Bulawayo-based gospel musician Lorraine Maplanka (pictured) says she is ready to uplift souls through music when she returns for the second edition of the Ekhaya Worship Festival, set for Africa Day at Hartsfield Sports Grounds.
Curated by multi-award-winning gospel artiste Everton Mlalazi, the festival has become a spiritual homecoming that unites worshippers through faith, praise and African cultural celebration.

The event also seeks to strengthen communities spiritually while bringing people closer to God.
Maplanka said she was honoured to once again be part of the growing worship platform, adding that she is prepared to minister through a powerful set.
“It’s always a great honour to minister at the Ekhaya Worship Festival. I’m excited and looking forward to a wonderful time in the presence of the Lord.
“This festival brings unity among gospel artistes and believers. Psalm 133 speaks about how God commands a blessing where there is unity, and that is exactly what we are looking forward to at Ekhaya,” she said.

The gospel singer also praised the May 25 festival for empowering female artistes, saying the inclusion of many women on the line-up reflects growing recognition of their role in ministry.
“When Jesus rose from the dead, He first revealed Himself to a woman and instructed her to spread the good news of His resurrection.
“When properly empowered, women of substance help propel the Gospel.
“I am grateful that Ekhaya Worship Festival continues to empower women artistes.

“This is a step in the right direction because women are equally capable of preaching and ministering through music.
“Seeing many female gospel artistes on the line-up is both encouraging and inspirational,” said Maplanka.
Preparations for the free worship gathering are now at an advanced stage, with organisers expecting more than 15 000 worshippers to attend. Apart from the host Mlalazi, the festival will feature South African gospel stars Zaza Mokhethi and Dumi Mkokstad alongside local acts such as Oncemore Six, Canaan Nyathi and celebrated acappella outfit, Reality 7.
Other artistes on the line-up include Dunamis Men, Nkosi Herman, Mai Mwamuka, Conquerors, Pastor Barak Family, Zimpraise, Family Voices, Vocal Ex, Vocal Base, Blessing Jeduthun, Loveness Mukutirwa, Mwenda Shimunzhila, iWorship Zim and Tehillah Testament.
The spiritually charged event will start at 9AM and run into the evening, promising a full day of worship, praise and spiritual renewal.
