PULE Makgwane claims his sangoma sister was first assaulted with a panga by her boyfriend in 2023.
But his sister survived the attack, and she went to open a case.
He said the boyfriend was arrested and spent six months in jail.
When the boyfriend recently returned from jail, Pule alleged that he hunted his sister, Mahlatse Makgwane (35).
“I’m told he allegedly went to her shack, and when he didn’t find her, he went to the nearby tavern where he allegedly forced her to leave with him. My sister apparently left with him, and they went to his shack, and that’s when the tragic incident happened,” said Pule.
Mahlatse was found dead later on Monday, 14 October, by her neighbours.
“We received a call from residents that my sister had been killed. When we got to her shack, it was a horrifying scene to watch.
We found that my sister was brutally murdered, and her head was crushed with stones. I believe he wanted to make sure that this time he left her dead,” Pule said.
He said the suspect, who is on the run, allegedly stabbed her several times with an unknown object and crushed her head with stones.
The sangoma was found lying in a pool of blood in her shack in Schoonplaas near Modder East in Springs, South Africa last Monday.
On Sunday, 20 October, her fellow izangoma took her body to her shack, where she was killed, to perform rituals.
They lit candles and performed other rituals to lift her spirit. They also told her to fight for herself and vowed the suspect would hand himself to the police.
“He killed our sister in a gruesome manner, and he’s not going to get away with it,” said a fellow sangoma.
Mahlatse was laid to rest on the same Sunday.
Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, spokesman for Springs police, confirmed a murder case was opened and cops are investigating. (www.snl24.com)
