LUPANE State University has donated 923 text books to Nyamandlovu High School in Matabeleland North Province. The donation meant to assist teachers and pupils with reading material, was presented to the school last week. LSU partnered with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and international donors in sourcing the consignment of text books.
The university’s information and public relations officer Zwelithini Dlamini handed over the donation to school authorities last week.
“Our aim is to try and identify needy schools and try to create a conducive learning environment to improve the performance of pupils in the province,” said Dhlamini.
“We are engaging our partners in sourcing reading material for the children. Reading creates in-depth understanding of issues and helps children develop emotionally and intellectually, thus creating independent learners.”
The school’s head Connet Bango commended the university for the donation saying it was going to enhance learning.
The books cover a variety of subjects such as Mathematics, Science, languages and humanities.
