LUPANE State University (LSU) has finally relocated to its campus in Lupane with the Vice Chancellor Professor Pardon Kuipa and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Nomathemba Ndiweni having started work there last week.
LSU has been operating from rented premises dotted around Bulawayo since inception in 2005 while construction of campus facilities in Lupane has been going on since 2006.
Prof Kuipa and Dr Ndiweni led an advance team of staff including the Registrar, librarian and bursar as well as supporting staff to the university last week on Monday.
LSU director of Marketing and Public Relations Mr Zwelithini Dlamini told The Chronicle that the new campus was now fully operational despite a few sticking issues.
“The major development that we have achieved this year is that the VC and the executive advanced parties have moved to start work in Lupane which is what we have been looking forward to all this time,” said Mr Dlamini.
“We have temporary power supply connected to the hostels and warden houses that will be occupied by senior management as we wait for permanent connection to be done while they settle in.”
Mr Dlamini said students and lecturers would only relocate from Bulawayo next month as some structures are still to be completed.
