VETERAN former Warriors’ and Tsholotsho FC winger Joel Luphahla says he is ready to continue serving his home side after helping them survive relegation in the 2015 Castle Lager Premier Socer League. Luphahla, 38, who has been reassigned as the Tsholotsho team manager under head coach Lizwe Sweswe and assistant coach Bongani Mafu, said his legs could still carry him through another gruelling Premiership season despite his age.
Luphahla joined the Zhwane Boys in the 2015 mid-season transfer window with fellow veterans Siza Khoza and Danisa Phiri with the sole purpose of saving the then league debutants from relegation.
“It’s up to the head coach to make that call, but if they ask me to play, I will heed the call because I still feel I’ve the energy to carry on,” he told Chronicle Sport.
“I still have what it takes to play and I’m not afraid to put my boots on and do what I know best.”
Tsholotsho finished 12th and just survived relegation on the last day of the season.
“I’m happy the boys fought all the way last season to remain in the Premier League. The team has so much potential and I’m going to be there to assist them to fight to stay in the PSL.
“This is not only good for the boys, but also for the pride of the people of Tsholotsho,” said Luphahla.
