IT is not just about heels and hair in Luveve. It is about hustle and heart.
Miss Teen Luveve is turning heads as local girls aged 16 to 19 step into the spotlight, not just to chase a crown but to champion leadership, confidence and community service.

Organisers say the pageant is strictly for Luveve teens for now, a deliberate move to build local pride and identity. However, there are plans to open doors to neighbouring suburbs like Cowdray Park and Emakhandeni in future, to widen the platform.

Vision Arts Foundation director Wesley Gandary said the pageant is about building bold young women, who know who they are.

“Confidence is a big part of this event. It is about embracing who you are and standing by your principles even when society pressures you. Focus on your strengths, stay unique and surround yourself with supportive people,” he said.

One hopeful contestant echoed the sentiment.

“This is not just about the crown. It is about proving we can be leaders, role models and voices for change,” she said.

Behind the glam lies a harsh reality. Young people in Luveve face serious challenges including peer pressure, identity struggles, mental health issues, substance abuse and lack of funding for creative dreams.

The pageant gives them a microphone to speak about these issues openly. It positions them as more than just pretty faces. They are determined young women pushing for change.

Residents say they have not seen a pageant with this kind of impact before. Beyond the catwalk, contestants gain confidence, public speaking skills, teamwork experience and emotional intelligence.
The theme says it all: Leadership, Confidence, Community Service.

Organisers believe responsible teenage leadership means self-awareness, empathy and accountability, especially in communities where some youths are forced to grow up too fast.

In Luveve, the crown is shining but the mission is even brighter.
